Although the assessment of spoken language will be removed from the calculation of the overall qualification result ( 1-9), there will still be assessment of spoken language by teachers.
In 2021, students will be given either a pass, merit or distinction for their spoken language assessment – alongside their 1-9 grade for modern foreign language GCSEs.
